The Computing curriculum at Excelsior Academy is designed to ensure all pupils are digitally literate, are safe and responsible whilst using digital devices, are creative and that they are able to solve problems. These four objectives are transferable across all subjects within Excelsior Academy, are designed to personally develop each student and equips them for future studies and employment. 

Throughout our curriculum we aim to raise aspiration, achievement, literacy and confidence alongside developing the wider skills.

Key Stage 3 and 4

Aims of our Key Stage 3 curriculum 

Our broad and balanced KS3 curriculum prepares pupils with the knowledge and skills for KS4 Creative iMedia. Pupils are given many opportunities throughout the curriculum to explore software and computer systems, to plan and create a range of multimedia products and to development programming skills and concepts. Pupils can progress in each subject into post 16 and higher education. 

Aims of Key Stage 4 curriculum  

Creative iMedia teaches pupils about the media industry, one of the fastest growing industries in the UK and where many job opportunities are available. Pupils focus on two NEA projects where they must plan and create a range of multimedia to meet the client and audience needs. Creative iMedia encourages independence, confidence and creativity and engages pupils with real world industries and their practices.
