Welcome to our Drama Department, where we believe theatre is more than just acting; it's about finding your voice, building confidence, and understanding the world around you.

Our curriculum is designed to ignite a passion for the performing arts, empowering pupils to explore complex ideas, express themselves creatively, and evaluate their own work and that of others.

From the moment they step into our workshops, pupils are encouraged to be brave, collaborative, and imaginative. We use the stage as a space for exploration, a platform for change, and a place where every pupil can shine. 

Aims of our Key Stage 3 curriculum 

Our Key Stage 3 Drama curriculum is designed to ignite a passion for the performing arts by building a foundation of core skills and knowledge. We achieve this by immersing pupils in a diverse range of dramatic forms, from telling stories through the body to interpreting established scripts based on real-world issues, and from creating their own work to exploring a variety of styles. Through this journey, we place a strong emphasis on oracy, providing a supportive environment for pupils to develop their spoken language skills, articulate their ideas with clarity, and find their voice. Our intent is to nurture young people who are not just skilled performers, but are also articulate, compassionate, and culturally equipped to engage with the world in a more meaningful way. 

Aims of Key Stage 4 curriculum  

Our KS4 drama curriculum is designed to transform pupils into well-rounded theatre practitioners who are not only skilled performers, but also critical thinkers and creators. We want our pupils to understand the art form deeply, which they will achieve by conducting in-depth analysis of a set text like Blood Brothers and learning to critically evaluate live theatre productions. They will learn to create their own original work by devising drama and documenting their process in a written log, fostering their collaboration and imaginative skills. Finally, we want them to confidently and skilfully perform in both solo and group contexts, refining their abilities by interpreting published scripts and delivering polished performances. Our ultimate aim is to equip them with the analytical, creative, and practical skills needed for success in their examinations and for a future in the arts and beyond.
